About us
About us
Cherkashchany Umanshchyny is a voluntary association of citizens protecting human rights and serving the public interest.
The organisation grew out of a very simple need: in Uman there was no place where a parent of a child with special educational needs could come and get real help rather than another piece of paperwork. The people who faced this in their own families decided to create that place.
This is how the Inclusive Education Hub “Cherkashchany” appeared — a space where specialists work with the child, where there are sessions, sport and time with peers, and where parents receive psychological support and clear answers about their child’s rights.
In parallel we work at the system level: we help introduce early intervention services in our community, train teachers in inclusive practices, monitor the rights of people with disabilities and bring the voice of families to the national level.
The organisation is a member of the Network of Parent Organisations and works together with local authorities, the university, schools and international donors.
What we believe in
The child at the centre
Not on paper, but in the real decisions and actions of the adults around them.
Parents are experts
Family experience must be heard where service standards are shaped.
Help close to home
Support must be available to every family, wherever they live.
No barriers
Physical, educational, or the ones that exist in people’s heads.
